Sleepy Girl Hacks: 5 Ways To Get The Best Sleep Ever

This blog is dedicated to all my nap queens out there! If you're anything like me, you love sleep and can never get enough of it! For as long as I can remember I have always been chronically fatigued and have required more sleep than most people I know. Throughout the years I've mentioned it to every doctor and had different labs checked out all to come up with no answers. At this point, I'm attributing it to PCOS and calling it a day! I've accepted the fact that I'm just someone who really needs their sleep and in this case more is more!

Although, I've known this for quite a while it really sank in when I decided to work night shift at a hospital. Going into it, I thought ehh it can't be that bad and boy was I wrong! I assumed that this forever sleepy girl would be able to sleep wherever whenever, but I quickly learned that was not the case. In fact, for the first time in my life I started having major issues with insomnia (hence the reason I no longer work the zombie shift). During those nine LONG months as a night shift RN I found some tips + tricks that helped me get the best sleep possible and I figured I would share them with you all!

1. Silk Sleepmask by Slip: This lovely little eye mask quickly became my BFF. It's made of silk which feels super nice on the skin and it is suppose to help with anti-aging by not tugging/pulling at the skin. It did it's job by keeping the light out and I found that it stayed in place throughout my sleep. I fell in love with this sleepmask and could not have slept without it especially after those overnight shifts!

2. Reading a book: This may seem silly but recently I've found this to really help me get sleepy before bed. I used to just watch tv or scroll through social media on my phone but something about reading a book has helped me to feel more relaxed and tired. And I like that I've kind of developed a little nighttime routine too! I'm currently reading WomanCode and I'm OBSESSED. More to come on that soon :)

3. Bedtime Tea by Yogi: Enjoying a warm cup of tea before bed is one of my favorite ways to relax! Lately, I've really been enjoying the Bedtime tea by Yogi. It's caffeine free and contains Passionflower and Chamomile Flower to help sooth + relax you. I love the taste of this tea and I feel like it really does help my body become sleepy naturally. Plus, there's just something about having a warm drink before bed that is comforting after a long day!

4. Sound Machine App: One of my night shift friends recommended this app to me and now I can't go to bed without it. The app itself is called White Noise and it's free to download. It's got tons of sound options to choose from ranging from waves to a campfire crackling. I find it funny that the only one I can use is simply called Brown Noise. Idk why this is the name but I do know that having this noise in the background has helped me fall asleep faster and stay asleep!

5. Sleepy Body Lotion by Lush: I think in this case I might have saved the best for last! I know I mentioned this in my X-mas gift guide but this is totally worth mentioning twice. This lavender scented lotion smells like it was made from God himself!! I'm telling you guys, if you're ever near a Lush store you have to at least smell this! It's amazing and I love putting this on my hands and arms before bed. The lavender scent is so relaxing and the extra hydration is a plus too!

Anyone else getting sleepy just reading this? I know I am! I hope you guys enjoyed reading how I get the best sleep possible and I'd love to hear what you do to relax!

Isn't this mug perfect for today? Considering it's only Monday and there was a snow storm....in April!!

Is it summer yet?? I'd at least settle for Spring or for it to just be Friday!!
